We are looking to recruit an energetic and self-motivated Food Market  Manager who besides  leading  and managing the various  food store teams, will also be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of stores including sales, customer service, quality control, operations, staff development and training

The person chosen for this role will report to the General Manager

The selected candidate will:

  • Be accountable for the achievement of the store’s targets
  • Be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating with the General Manager and other departments to ensure efficient and profitable running of the stores.
  • Be esponsible to compile rosters to ensure that all labour costs are flexed according to levels of demand / activity / season and guarantee efficient and effective use of HR available
  • Maintain adequate stock on hand for all shelf and promotional items
  • Ensure that incoming and existing products are continuously checked for expiry date.
  • Be responsible for Stock control policies and procedures, management of stock levels and accountable for stock control through stock takes.
  • Be responsible for managing the food store order system and foods stores receiving system. Including the analysis of stock receiving and ordering processes. Recommend improvements
  • Review the store layout plans to satisfy business demands and sales needs and discuss with General Manager.
  • Obtain optimum deals when negotiating with suppliers in terms of:

–           price

–           delivery times

–           payment terms

–           quality of goods

  • Supervise quality control within the fresh food counters and monitor quantities for preparation to minimize wastage (Arkadia’s fresh food counters), perform frequent checks to ensure consistent high standard of preparation and services and adherence to HACCP regulations (all fresh food counters).
  • Responsible for Food Market opening and closing procedures.
  • Analyse and interpret trends of business to facilitate planning.
  • Review market trends and discuss with senior management.
  • Analyse shelf space and propose improvements where opportune.
  • Draw up performance reports on regularly basis and as and when required by Senior Manager

Profile

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have 2 to 3 years’ experience in running a supermarket or similar business
  • Have successfully completed their post-secondary level of education.
  • Be in possession of an ECDL certificate and proficient in excel and word
  • Have a High level of written and spoken English.
  • Be able to work on their own initiative, under pressure and have an eye for detail.

Cleaner

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Cleaner to support our Foodstore operations in Malta. The selected candidate shall be responsible to provide cleaning services, and  maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness at all times

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning all bathrooms at least once daily.
  • Cleaning the reception area at least three times weekly.
  • Emptying all waster paper baskets at least once daily.

Fishmonger

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Fishmonger to support our Foodstore operations at Is-suq tal-Belt. The selected candidate shall be responsible  for preparing and subsequently selling fish and products which conventionally accompany fish.

 

The person chosen for this role will report to the Foodstore Stores Manager.

 

Responsibilities include:

  1. Reviewing stock on a regular basis
  2. De-scaling the fish and removing bones
  3. Cutting fish into smaller pieces
  4. Gutting and cleaning fish
  5. Arranging displays of fish in the counters

Maintenance Technicians

We are currently recruiting for full-time Maintenance Technicians to assist our Arkadia Maintenance Team in Malta and our Maintenance Team in Gozo.

The person chosen for this role will report directly to the Group Maintenance Manager.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Respond and attend promptly to repair requests.
  • Understand and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
  • Check for new maintenance requests.
  • Interpret readings from meters and gauges and other measuring units.
  • Perform maintenance activities on various types of hardware & electrical equipment
  • Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment.
  • Operate as an independent mechanic by analysing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.

Loss Prevention Officer

The person chosen for this role will be reporting to the Assistant Store Manager and the Foodstore Stores Manager.

 

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be required to monitor the security screens and make continuous and regular inspection checks in and around the whole building.  S/he will also be liaising with Police in case of accidents, thefts etc. and shall also act as a custodian in all cash-handling operations.

Basis: 40 hrs spread over a 6 day week

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Prepare reports and summarise data including order history and stock on hand reports.
  • Execution and monitoring of all ordering duties.
  • Coordinate with food store managers / stackers and suppliers to ensure store stock needs are achieved.
  • Monitor stock levels and prepare orders accordingly to ensure sufficient products in store whilst keeping lowest stock on hand possible in store.
  • Ensure that orders are effected in a timely manner according to store demands.
